Description

Following in the tradition of Chicago's pinball industry, here is a light up pinball bumper featuring the Data East Pinball logo. Perfect for displaying over your pinball machine, or where your future pinball machine will be!

Please note: Because of new Maker World requirements I have disabled the purge tower on the A1 Mini profile.  I do NOT recommend printing without a purge tower, so please enable it prior to printing.

This is a relatively simple print and assembly. I've separated the main red and white areas of the bumper so that you don't need to worry about creating tons of waste. All you need to do is just slide them together. The Stern Logo prints inside of the white part to save time and effort and can easily be popped into the top of the bumper without any need for glue, and best of all only uses 2 colors so no color swapping necessary if you have an AMS. Finally, if you plan on adding lights to the bottom part to make this a lamp, do that before attaching it to the top of the bumper (although it still looks incredible even without lights). I used a 3 foot strip of LED lights which if you wrap it tightly will fit perfectly.  The bottom is printed in white so that the light will shine through it as well, but if you'd rather not have that you can just print it in black.  To attach everything I didn't use any glue, instead I used a soldering iron to weld it all together going around the circle where the structural pieces meet.  Since it will be against a wall, you will never be able to see this area, and welding not only is stronger, but its much simpler than working with super glue.  Alternatively, there is an easier to assemble model that prints the top as one solid piece, but of course needs to change colors on each layer so I advise against using this version unless you have a H2D, in which case…

There is also an H2D version that prints the red and white part of the pop bumper as a single solid piece so that you can take advantage of the dual print heads.  It also prints the entire assembly on a single build plate to make it just that much more convenient.
