Description

Because color mixing is still an “experimental feature” I can't upload print profiles yet, but if you save the .3mf file you can open it in Bambu Studio and it is all ready to go with all the colors premixed for you.

31-Color Filament Mixing Palette

I wanted to experiment with the new Full Spectrum color mixing feature now that it is available  in Bambu Studio.

I was inspired by the Full Spectrum Palettes but I discovered that the Bambu studio limits your colors to 32. The previous palettes are either 26 or 38 colors. 26 wasn’t taking full advantage and 38 was over the limit. So I designed a new palette with 31 colors mixed from only 4 filaments.

Easy Setup

Just change the 4 filament colors in Bambu Studio, and all 31 mixed colors update automatically—no painting or manual edits needed.

Example Combos Shown in Pictures

  • Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, White
  • Blue, Green, Yellow, White
  • Red, Yellow, Magenta, Orange
  • Transparent Yellow, Transparent Green, Transparent Red, Clear

Not Just “Perfect” Conditions

Color mixing is done by making very thin alternating layers of colors, which means it works best on vertical surfaces, but this model also tests non-ideal conditions:

  • Curved top surfaces
  • Flat bottom surfaces
  • Variable Layer Height

These are all things that Bambu warns the color mixing wasn’t designed for. And you may see some imperfections in the color mixing in these areas, but seeing it in these test prints helps you plan and determine how to work around these issues in any designs you are working on with color mixing.

Example:
You can see the 31 circles color on the bottom of the print, but with more opaque filament due to how the layers of color are stacked, there may not be 31 distinct colors, more like different 16 colors that “worked” on the bottom layer. More transparent filaments you can see 31 distinct colors.

Example:
The curve on top shows more of the white coming through, so the colors become more pastel towards the top of the bumps, than on the side.

Recommended for printing on the H2C.
It will work on other printers, but because of the numerous color changes, it will have over 4 times as much purge waste as filament used for the actual model.

Requires Bambu Studio 2.5.3 or newer
