This holder was born from a practical need: optimizing the space around your 3D printer by keeping filament spools within reach, protected from humidity, and out of the way.

The design mounts under a shelf using screws, holding the spool hanging vertically — perfect for AMS users who want to keep spare spools right above the printer, ready to go.

Key feature: the central spindle is not solid. It is hollow and perforated along its entire length, allowing you to insert silica gel beads (desiccant beads) inside. This keeps the filament constantly protected from moisture during storage, without the need for sealed bags or extra containers.

Designed and tested on a Bambu Lab A1 Mini with standard 1 kg spools.

⚠️ Important note about silica gel beads: Do not use low-quality or uncertified silica gel beads. Cheap beads tend to crumble over time — they break into tiny fragments that pass through the holes in the spindle, fall to the floor, and contaminate the area around your printer. Always use good quality beads, preferably ceramic-coated or reinforced.
