Description

Head-on Emco Unimat 3/ Proxxon micro-drill (or any other with 20mm collet) holder. Fixes to the cross-slide, putting drill and headstock centres at the same height, cross slide allows it to be moved, and locked, at known distance from the centre-line.

I use mine for making up lantern-pinions, pin-wheels etc.   I’m sure there are plenty of non-horological tasks that call for accurate drilling of holes around a known radius.

Can be used as-is, but is best used with some way of locking the headstock.  e.g. My Headstock Dividing Plate allows the controlled spacing of holes for the above jobs.

This was based on an aluminium one I made up and used for many years.  I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how solid it is when made in PLA.  It is in fact far superior to the aluminium one because it locates firmly on and into the bed of the cross-slide allowing for quick, easy and repeatable use.

Needs:

-  a normal T-Slot nut with c26mm M6 screw - I use a hex-headed one with a couple of washers to attach it to the cross-slide.

-  a c30mm M5 hex headed screw with nut for the collet clamp.

Kinda specialised, I know, but having put the work into getting this right, based on years of experience of using a similar specialist tool, I thought I may as well share.   Enjoy.  …and if you can find a way to make money from this, knock yourself out!
