Description

šŸ”‹ Portable Microcrawler Field Charger (ToolkitRC M8P Powered)

This is a compact, all-in-one portable charging solution I designed specifically for micro crawler rigs (SCX24, etc.). It’s built around the ToolkitRC M8P and powered by a 3S 4300mAh LiPo, giving you a super efficient field setup without hauling a full charging station.

The goal was simple: smallest possible footprint while still being practical in the field — and this is the most compact setup I’ve personally seen that still performs.

āš™ļø Features

  • Designed for ToolkitRC M8P charger
  • Powered by 3S 4300mAh LiPo (XT60)
(Currently using Gens Ace, but similar packs should fit)
  • Perfect for 2S & 3S micro crawler batteries
  • Enables battery rotation strategy (2–3 packs is all you need)
  • No need to remove the main battery to charge
→ Balance lead + XT60 are accessible externally
  • Clean, enclosed design for easy transport

āš ļø Important Note

This is a field charging solution, not a standalone charging ecosystem.

You will still need a way to charge the main 3S 4300mAh battery at home.

Most users will simply use the ToolkitRC M8P with a compatible XT60 DC power supply, allowing you to plug into a standard wall outlet and charge your larger battery just like a normal LiPo.

šŸ”© Build Options

Two versions included:

  1. Heat-set insert version
    • Uses 2mm heat-set inserts + M2 screws
    • More durable / premium feel
  2. Simple version
    • Works with self-tapping screws or standard M2 hardware
    • Easier for quick builds

šŸ”Œ Customization

  • I used a short XT60 → JST adapter for charging small packs
  • You can easily swap this for any connector type you prefer

šŸ–Øļø Print Settings

  • Material: PETG recommended (won’t warp/melt in the sun)
  • Supports: Required
  • Build Plates:
    • Carbon fiber
    • Hologram
Both work great with the provided orientation

šŸ’” Use Case

This setup lets you:

  • Stay out longer with minimal gear
  • Charge on the fly between runs
  • Avoid bringing bulky chargers or power supplies

I typically run 2–3 crawler batteries on rotation, and this keeps everything topped off without ever packing up.
