HKS SQV 4 Recirculation hose adapter
Print Profile(1)

Description
I got this HKS BOV second hand and it didn't come with the recirculation hose, I did some googling and found out the hose that I was missing wasn't even going to fit my vehicle as this was off of a 2018 Subaru STI(I have a 2005 Subaru legacy). With my vehicle having a MAF sensor, you can't have 100% VTA BOV, so I decided to make my own adapter to see if this would even work, or if I would have a vacuum leak that would end up still stalling the car.
I bought the flange for my car and swapped the HKS BOV over, then I proceeded to trial and error. Eventually I got it to work, no vacuum leaks, and runs perfectly, it is now a fully functioning 100% Recirculation BOV. I designed it to be a very snug fit with no play once installed (literally no play) to ensure a tight seal against the gasket.
Installation.
- There are a total of 8 screws on the front of the HKS BOV, you need to undo the 4 protruding(closer to the surface) screws to take off the fin cover and get access to the plastic chrome divider.
- take out the plastic chrome tri-fin and install your new 3D printed adapter, ensure the larger tab is on the bottom and the thinner tab on the top, it should be a very snug fit.
- reinstall the same 4 screws to put the fin back on.
- install in engine bay and you're done!
The good:
- Fully functional with no leaks
- Has to be made in ABS, ASA, or PA-6 CF to handle engine bay temps and constant stress from the hose clamp.
- Easy print in under 1 hour with 3MF settings
- Good alternative if you want to switch your car back to full recirculation like OEM.
- No modifications required to the rest of the engine bay.
The bad:
- you loose the cool “PShhhhh” sound that a BOV normally makes or you don't get the iconic HKS BOV sound. :(
