Some users reported that the original 0.2 mm tolerance can be too tight depending on the printer calibration and the fabric thickness used for embroidery. For this reason, every print profile now includes multiple outer ring plates with different tolerances:
- 0.2 mm
- 0.3 mm
- 0.4 mm
- 0.5 mm
To make testing easier, I also added a new print profile with the 5 cm hoop size only, designed to fit on a single plate for the A1 Mini. This profile includes all outer ring tolerance versions clearly labeled, so you can quickly test which tolerance works best for both your printer and the fabric you plan to use.

This remix was inspired by a simple but surprisingly hard-to-find idea: a fully press-fit embroidery hoop without screws.
At my mother-in-law’s request, I modified the excellent original model by Domdoms to create a version that relies entirely on a friction fit instead of any tightening mechanism. The goal was to achieve good fabric tension while keeping the design simple and easy to print.
The remix reuses the inner ring from the original design and introduces a new outer disc designed with a negative profile of the inner ring. This creates a precise interlocking system that holds the fabric firmly in place.
Each print profile includes two build plates:
- The first plate contains the inner ring
- The second plate contains the outer disc with the negative cavity matching the inner ring
After several test prints using an Ender 3 V3 KE and a Bambu Lab X2D, I found that a clearance of 0.20 mm works very well. For example, a 200 mm inner ring paired with a 200.2 mm negative provides excellent fabric tension without making disassembly too difficult.
That said, the design is flexible: you can easily adjust the clearance by scaling the negative part on the X and Y axes in the second plate to better suit your printer and material.
