Unfortunately, I was repeatedly disappointed by the rain collectors I bought.

Partially, the switchover to summer/winter operation no longer worked properly after slight contamination. In addition, it was very expensive and problematic to attach to the downpipe.

This prompted me to design my own.

The switch to summer/winter is done using different tops (the one for winter operation is still to come).

Installation is very simple.

You simply cut a piece out of the downpipe that is slightly smaller (approx. 115mm) than the rain collector (assembly pictures will follow).
Then you first push the upper part over the pipe upwards and then the lower part is inserted.
Both parts can then be screwed together with a simple thread.

During the design of the thread, care was taken to ensure that it can be printed without supports and that it also works when dirty.

A commercially available hose with an inner diameter of 25mm can be connected to the outlet.

If the rain barrel is slightly higher than the rain collector, overflow protection is even provided.
When the water level in the barrel has reached the inlet, the water in the rain collector flows into the sewer.

There is a self-cleaning sieve in the collector. Contaminants (leaves, etc.) are discharged into the sewer.
If necessary, the rain collector can of course be opened quickly and easily to manually clean the sieve.

Have fun printing and replicating! :-)
