SuperMesh Dual Unit AMS Desiccant Containers
Print Profile(2)

Description
Key Features
This design focuses on improved drying performance and reliable printing. The dual unit construction spreads silica gel out into two containers, allowing for better silica gel regeneration within a filament dryer. The fully meshed walls allows for all 6 sides to be fully exposed to air for better efficacy. The woven structure of the mesh walls ensures reliable printing with minimal small start-stop print retractions, minimising the risk of excessive stringing or potential clogging with some filaments.
- Optimised high surface area mesh for reliable printing and greater exposed surface area for all 6 sides
- Dual unit design for easy removal within the AMS without removing spools
- ~350g dry silica gel capacity (20-30% heavier for wet silica gel)
- 1.1mm diameter hole size suitable for desiccant beads >1.5mm
- Compatible with AMS 2 Pro and AMS (the original AMS will have a looser fit)
- Designed for silica gel regeneration in mind when printed with a temperature resistant filament
- Secure latching lid to ensure the lid won't become loose from thermal expansion
Print Guidance
Please print using the uploaded 3MF print profiles. Do not change the print settings or download the STLs to print from, as there will be no mesh. The mesh is generated using slicer modifiers and settings, so it won't be visible in the 3D model.
- Please ensure build plate is clean prior to printing. An unclean build plate will cause poor adhesion which will result in issues with the mesh being printed and may also result in prints lifting. Please clean the bed thoroughly with soap and water if having issues. Build plate glue may be required for some challenging filaments.
- PETG, ABS, ASA filaments are recommend. PLA is not recommended due to low temperature resistance and is somewhat of a stiffer material. Fiber reinforced engineering filaments can be used but the stiffness of material will cause the latch to be quite firm. Please check below for filament specific guidance.
- Printing with 0.4mm nozzle is recommended for the design. Nozzles with a 0.6mm or 0.8mm diameter will likely have issues.
Filament Type Print Guidance
Below are filaments that the design had been test printed with using a 0.4mm nozzle on an X1C. Other filaments may also work. All filaments are recommended to be dried before printing. Bed adhesion can vary depending on filament type and brand, and what build plate is used. Liquid glue stick was used for PC and nylons.
| Material | Heat Resistance | Difficulty | Build Plate Requirements | Printer Enclosure | Heated Chamber | Notes |
| PETG | 69°C | Easy | Clean textured PEI | Not Required | No | |
| ABS | 87°C | Moderate | Glue may be needed | Required | Recommended | |
| ABS-GF | 99°C | Moderate | Glue may be needed | Required | Recommended | Rougher surface with exposed glass fibers. Lid and latch are functional but needs to be worn in. |
| ASA | 100°C | Moderate | Glue may be needed | Required | Recommended | |
| PC | 117°C | Challenging | Glue may be needed | Required | Recommended | Can be more challenging to print. Reduced fan cooling may be needed. |
| PA12-CF | 176°C | Moderate | Glue required | Required | Recommended | Dry filament before printing. Latch is more secure but still can be opened. Rougher surface from exposed fibers. |
Bambu PAHT-CF | 194°C | Moderate | Glue required | Required | Recommended | Dry filament before printing. Latch is more secure but still can be opened. Tighter lid from exposed fibers and shrinkage. |
| PA6-CF | 209°C | Moderate | Glue required | Required | Recommended | Dry filament before printing. Lid can be latched closed but difficult to open. Rougher surface from exposed fibers. |
Designer Notes
There are plans to add hygrometer versions so please check back in the future for when it's released.
Updates
07/06/2026 - Changes to the latch position for second row containers to make the lids slightly easier to open.
27/05/2026 - Slight changes to the design and print profiles. Increased the height of side container meshes, and increased wall count for bottom mesh.
30/04/2026 - Updated the design to be slightly slimmer for a bit more looser fit in some AMS units.
