Zeruel ゼルエル Zerueru fourteenth angel Evangelion

Zeruel (ゼルエル, Zerueru ?) is the fourteenth angel,

Zeruel appeared three days after Bardiel's attack and immediately levitated towards the GeoFront. After effortlessly overcoming anti-aircraft artillery fire, the angel tore through the 18 layers of armor of the facility with a single attack.

It is a floating creature of black, orange, and white, as large as the Evangelion Units, but without human limbs and with a deformed skull-like face.

Its core is located in its chest, protected by a pair of retractable bone shields tough enough to withstand an N² bomb at point-blank range. Its arms are flat, like paper, and have a small slit at the end, as if it were the separation between the index and thumb fingers of a hand.

Zeruel means "Arm of God" or "The Harassing Power of God", which may also refer to its exceptional combat ability or the use of its arm by Unit-01. Also: In Japanese, the words God (神), Paper (紙), and Hair (髪) are read the same (かみ, kami or gami), which could explain its paper-like appendages. It is also called the Angel of Strength (力の天使, Chikara no Tenshi ?).

It is the only angel that has managed to forcefully enter Central Dogma and get within meters of NERV's main operations personnel, making them retreat in fear, except for Misato and Ritsuko, who stood firm. There, it was stopped by Unit-01, which managed to expel it from Central Dogma.

The attack tactics Zeruel used in Rebuild were notably different from those used by previous angels. It somehow knew that it was crucial to eliminate the personnel in Central Dogma or assimilate Unit-00 to, subsequently, circumvent the self-destruction of Terminal Dogma.
