Description
I designed this suspension system as a small experiment in combining rigid and flexible materials into a functional print. It's a great desk ornament for automotive enthusiasts!
Model Details:
- It actually works: By printing the spring in TPU (or another flexible filament) and the main body in PLA/PETG, the suspension can be compressed like real ones.
- No AMS Required: You don't need a multi-color setup. The parts are conveniently organized into separate build plates, making it easy to print the TPU and PLA parts one by one on a single-extruder machine.
- Fully Scalable: Feel free to scale the model up or down directly in your slicer to fit whatever size you want.
Print Recommendations:
- Coil Spring: TPU (like the 95A or HF variant) is highly recommended to ensure proper flexibility and compression resistance. I recommend disabling "Support only critical regions" in the support section.
- Damper & Washer: Use your favorite PLA or PETG for maximum structural rigidity. For Damper 1 and 2, I recommend enabling "Support only critical regions" in the support section.
