Thread Cone Adapter for Sewing Machines (< 25g)
Print Profile(1)

Description
Thread cones are a fraction of the cost of standard sewing machine spools — and if you already own an overlocker, you likely have cones sitting right there. This adapter lets you use them directly on your domestic sewing machine, saving you money and keeping your setup simple.
No more running out of thread mid-project either. Cones hold significantly more thread than standard spools, so you can sew for longer without interruption.
No separate cone stand needed, no extra equipment to buy or store — just print, slot it over your existing thread pin, and place your cone on top. It prints without supports, uses minimal filament (under 25g), and is more than durable enough in standard PLA.
Four variants are included across two plates in a single 3MF file — one plate for domestic machines, one for industrial cones — so you only need to print what matches your setup.
Which variant is mine?
First, identify your cone type:
- Overlocker/domestic cone — the standard tapered cone you'd find in any fabric shop
- Industrial cone — larger diameter base, typically used in professional or semi-industrial settings
Then match your thread pin:
- Narrow pin (max 4.5mm) — older machines with a thinner metal thread pin
- Standard pin (max 7mm) — the vast majority of modern domestic and semi-industrial machines
Not sure which pin size to use? Measure the diameter of your thread pin with a ruler or calipers. Under 4.5mm → narrow variant. Up to 7mm → standard variant.
Compatibility has been tested across multiple machines — including Pfaff, Juki, and Brother — by a professional sewing teacher (Dotty Bobbin).
