Description

An upgrade to my previously designed “Slim Fit” playing card case such that it can now hold Poker sized playing cards.

Cards

This deck case can comfortably hold up to 56 standard playing cards (63.5mm x 88.9mm). This case is targeted towards Poker cards however, can accommodate UNO cards as well.

Features

Accentuated Chamfers and Fillets

I have increased the size of the chamfers on the bottom surfaces of both the lid and the base to ensure layer lines aren't as visible. I have also increased the size of the fillets on the side edges of the case to ensure a comfortable grip in the hand. Further, additional chamfers were added to the internal edges of both the lid and the base to act as a track when assembling the two parts together.

Locking Mechanisms

Newly added, compliant mechanisms were added to the front and back faces of the lid with small, chamfered protrusions that flex and align with small cavities located on the base of the case.

Additionally, a rectangular protrusion and indentation, located on the lid and base respectively was also added as secondary locking mechanism to hold the lid and base together.

The addition of these locking mechanisms removes the need for hinges, simplifying the printing process.

Printing

Orientate the part such that the lid and base are flat against the print bed and the custom support on the lid is in an upright position.

Preferred Plate Type: PEI Textured Plate

Preferred Filament Type: PLA (if you did use other filament types, let me know in the comments!)

Post Processing

Use flush cutters or a scalpel to remove the custom support once the print is completed. Once removed, the compliant mechanism should flex slightly.

Personal Note
This project did take me a long time to make, prototype and test. I love to experiment and make things in my spare time and would love to see and hear how you guys felt with this design!

If you did like it, consider giving me a boost!
