Description

Built this vacuum pad as part of getting into thermoforming and making Kydex holsters. Instead of buying a setup, I designed and printed my own.. this version is finalized and ready to run.

The frame is printed in Black ASA for heat resistance and rigidity, while the vacuum pad itself is printed in ABS to handle the temperatures where Kydex becomes moldable without deforming.

For testing and practice, I’m using PLA sheets before moving on to actual Kydex. It’s a cost-effective way to dial in technique, pressure, and mold quality before committing to final materials.

The pad features a uniform vacuum hole grid to distribute suction evenly across the surface, helping the material conform tightly to the mold and pick up clean details. The frame and corner supports keep everything aligned and sealed during use.

Simple, effective, and built to get the job done.

Features:

  • ASA frame for strength and heat resistance
  • ABS vacuum pad for thermal stability
  • Evenly distributed suction across the surface
  • Designed for DIY vacuum forming setups
  • Fully 3D printable

Notes:

  • Optimized for use with a vacuum source and soft sealing layer (TPU recommended)
  • Tested using PLA sheets; ready for Kydex use
