Parametric Pipe & Connector System
A scalable parametric conduit system for cables, purge routing, and more — built for reliability, not compromise.
This is a fully parametric pipe and connector system designed as a scalable alternative to segmented flexible hoses.
The original concept explored a flexible segmented design, however issues with strength, fit, and tolerance meant the segments could separate under their own weight. This design pivots to a more reliable pipe + barbed connector approach, improving consistency, strength, and usability.
Design Overview
The system consists of:
- Parametric straight pipe
- Barbed connectors in:
- Straight
- 30°
- 45°
- 90°
All components are generated from a single model and can be customised to suit your application.
Parameters
- ID (Internal Diameter) – Pipe internal diameter (mm)
- Length – Pipe length (mm)
- Tolerance – Clearance between pipe and connector (mm)
Tolerance Guidelines:
- Minimum: 0.10 mm (too tight below this)
- Maximum: 0.20 mm (too loose above this)
- Recommended: 0.14 mm
Sizing
Pipe length can be scaled from 50 mm up to your printer’s maximum build volume:
- X1 / P1 Series: ~250 mm
- X2 Series: ~260 mm
- H2 Series: ~320 mm
- A1 Mini compatible (size limited)
Printing Notes
- Pipes are designed with thin walls to minimise filament usage
- Connectors should be printed on their side for best strength and fit
- Supports required
- Pipes can be printed upright
TPU can be used for the pipe to allow flexibility where required.

- Cable management / conduit
- Diverting printer purge material
- General routing applications
- Light-duty garden use (material dependent)
For water use:
- Consider using PTFE (plumber’s) tape to improve sealing

While less modular than segmented hoses, it provides a far more dependable solution for real-world use.
