Description
Savonius Wind Spinner – Garden & Flowerpot Decoration
This model is a scaled-down version of a Savonius vertical axis wind turbine. I wanted a traditional garden wind spinner but was inspired by the modern look of industrial wind turbines. The result is a simple, functional, and eye-catching decoration.
Thanks to its compact size, you can stick it in your garden bed or even a small flowerpot on your windowsill.
Modular Design: Stack them up!
The best part? This model is infinite and modular. If you use a longer central rod (axle), you can stack the modules on top of each other. You can have just one, or a towering wind turbine with 8 or more segments!
Print & Assembly Tips:
- Material: I recommend PETG for outdoor use (UV and heat resistance), but colorful PLA works great for indoor pots.Hanging Option & Assembly Tips:
- Versatility: You don't have to just stick it in the ground. You can also hang it!
- Stability: If you hang it, it’s a good idea to put a nut or something heavy at the bottom to keep it stable in the wind.
- Low Friction: I highly recommend using washers between the moving parts to minimize friction.
- Pro Tip: For the best performance, apply a little bit of WD-40 or light lubricant to the axle. It makes a huge difference!
