Description

This holds an AirPods Pro first generation (gen 1) and a Tile Mate, letting you find the AirPods, rest them on a table without tipping, and page your phone from the Tile. Note: this is built for AirPods Pro Gen 1 only. It will not fit non-Pro AirPod chargers, and has minor issues with 2nd-gen AirPods Pro (see bottom).

When my AirPods are not in my ear, they are generally either lost, out of charge, scattered, hiding against a white background, or accellerating towards a concrete floor. The early airpods charging case does not play a sound, prevents the airpods from chirping, and wouldn't anyway if it were out of charge.  With this, you can find the rascals using the Tile network, page your phone from the Tile, and protect the whole works from a fall. It's generated using this OnShape file, so you can customize the dimensions or anything else. If you do, please post the corrected dimensions for different versions of AirPods / Tiles.

Features: the hole for activating the airpod is accessible and protected on the back. While tile Tile obscures the charging LED, it's still visible from the top. The assembly will sit flat on a table even with the lid open and the earbuds out. The Tile's button to page your phone is accessible from the front, and is modeled to make it harder to accidentally press

Usage: It is, intentionally, a very tight fit on both the case and the tile.

Settings: this should print well with standard settings, but bump the walls up to 3, it won't extend print time much.

  • Filament: I printed it in PETG, just to be water/UV resistant and a bit stronger. PLA or TPU should work too, but I can't vouch for how well it will fit in TPU.
  • Orientation: print with the flat base down, so that the hoop stress of inserting your items doesn't break it.
  • Support: you can get away with none, but the included file adds minimal support painted on the two small cutouts, using standard > snug. just to keep them circular

The current upload is verified to work with the AirPods Pro (1st Gen). It might work with later AirPods Pro chargers, but it lacks speaker holes and the charging hole is likely too small. Given how tightly this fits that won't be any fun.

IT WILL NOT FIT OTHER MODELS EXCEPT AirPods ++PRO++ 1st Generation – visit the OnShape page to customize.  If people post verified dimensions I can put up a trial file.
