The AC-130H Spectre was a heavily armed, long-endurance, side-firing gunship operated by the U.S. Air Force from 1972 until its retirement in 2015. Based on the C-130 transport, it provided close air support and air interdiction, utilizing a howitzer, cannons, and advanced infrared sensors to destroy ground targets primarily at night.
