Description

This is a replacement Timer Knob for the Sony SLV-N71 VCR, also compatible with the SLV-N70 and SLV-N60 models. If your original knob is cracked, missing, or slipping on the control shaft, this 3D-printable replacement restores normal functionality to the front-panel timer settings. The part is modeled to closely match the original knob’s dimensions, grip texture, and shaft interface for a proper fit and smooth rotation.

Print Notes:

  • Filament: PLA works well for standard use, but PETG is recommended for better durability and resistance to cracking around the shaft insert.
  • Orientation: Print with the flat bottom face down on the bed. This provides clean outer detail and strong layer bonding around the center bore. (Keep it the way it is)
  • Supports: Not required. If your printer struggles with the shaft cavity, light supports may help keep the inner geometry crisp. But the hole is small and shouldn't need it.
  • Infill: 20–40% is sufficient; higher infill can give the knob a more solid feel when turning.
  • Post-processing: Test-fit the knob on the VCR shaft. If it’s too tight, lightly sand or ream the inner bore—be careful not to remove too much material so the press-fit stays secure. It needs to be tight, and is modeled to be pretty exact. Ensure your flow is well-calibrated.
