DONKEY – Game Rules

A fast-paced game of focus and quick decisions

Game Info

up to 5 players · Ages 6+ · 10–20 min

Contents

  • 5 sets of numbered tiles
  • 1 donkey marker

Objective

Be the first to get rid of all your tiles – but don’t end up with the donkey!

Setup

Place all tiles face down in the center.
The youngest player starts. Play proceeds clockwise.

Gameplay

  • On your turn, draw one tile, place it in front of you, and flip it face up.
  • Tiles can be placed on others in ascending or descending order (e.g., 6 or 8 on a 7).
  • When you place a correct tile, you may immediately place another.
  • Continue until no more moves are possible.

Center pile:
When a 1 is revealed, start a pile in the center. Tiles must be added in ascending order (2, 3, 4, etc.).
Matching tiles must be placed here.

The Donkey

If you miss a possible move:

  • You become the “donkey”
  • You take one tile from each opponent

The donkey is passed on if another player makes the same mistake.

Out of tiles

If you run out of face-down tiles, flip your revealed pile and continue playing.

Winning

The first player to get rid of all tiles wins.
However: If they have the donkey, the next player wins instead
