Pixel Canvas - functional art for boring walls

Pixel Canvas is a simple customizer that turns your favorite words into tactile, 3D-printed pixel art for your home. It’s designed to be a single, easy-to-print piece that brings a bit of digital nostalgia to your physical space

Why

I was staring at the blank space above my desk and realized something: zero personality. I wanted a way to label my space that felt like a design choice rather than just a utility. Since I've always had a soft spot for retro-tech and pixel art, this is my way of breaking up boring walls

How

Instead of just extruding letters, I wanted these signs to have actual texture. You can swap between Dots, Squares, X, or Hearts depending on the vibe of the room  (more shapes to come if people like it :D ) . I also spent some time on the "Variable Width" logic so that characters like ‘L’ or ‘.’ don't look awkwardly spaced. I don't think you can get that look with simple grid generators. If you need more than one line, just use the | symbol to stack your text
 

Bonus

While I was testing this, I noticed something: these dots are almost exactly the size of certain world famous bricks. Try: 4.8mm Pixel Size, 1.66 Spacing Ratio and 1.7 Height

Some ideas to get you started:

• Coffee Station: BREW or CAFFEINE in a matte brown.
• The Entryway: A big, friendly HELLO to catch people as they walk in. Maybe your house number ?
• Gaming: GAME|ON or LEVEL|UP.
• The Studio: CREATE, FOCUS, CREATE|PRINT|REPEAT

Slicing tips:

Experiment with your Top Surface Infill Pattern. Because you can choose between shapes like Hearts or Xs, patterns like Hilbert Curve, Archimedean Chords, or Octagram Spiral change how light hits the pixel faces.
