Description

This is a simple, fun hand-launched helicopter toy that i designed for the Spring Play Challenge Design Contest here on makerworld. It's great for kids to play with outdoors, get some fresh air and be inspired by flight.

Just spin the shaft between your hands and release. The rotor lifts smoothly into the air and glides back down.

Lightweight and easy to print - only 7g. The wide rotor provides stable lift, while the straight handle makes it easy to grip and launch consistently.

A boost would really help me out if you like the model, thank you.

Notes:

  • the shaft is printed on it's side to provide strength.
  • i added some small supports on the shaft but they are not strictly necessary, just makes the overhang a bit cleaner.
  • no glue required for assembly
  • SPIN COUNTER CLOCKWISE

Assembly:

Prints in two parts, just ram the shaft into the slot on the rotor piece (It may take some force).

Then fold the flaps down along the scored line. The angle doesn't matter too much, 45° or less is usually fine.
