Color Mixing Test Slopes
Print Profile(1)

Bill of Materials
Description
The ability to mix filament colours was added to in Bambu Studio v2.5.3. This colour blending works by using different filaments for different layers and exploiting the effect of blurring the colours together where the eye can't resolve the individual layers. As such, the slope angle of the object has a significant impact on whether the effect is good or whether colour lines are visible. The quality layer height is also critical to the visibility of the lines, with the smallest layer height being the hardest to see and giving a better blending effect. This can be printed with a single nozzle printer and AMS but, as the warning in Bambu studio says, it can take a long time and generate a lot of purge waste so is best printed with a dual nozzle printer or head changing system (e.g X2D, H2D, H2C etc). For testing the possible colour palettes from mixing filaments, please consider downloading this colour cube model as well.
This model has parts angled at 5 degree increments from 0 to 90 to test the effect of the blending with surface angle.
The image below shows the blending of yellow and cyan, with the two on the right mixed at 50% each and the two on the left mixed 75% Cyan + 25% Yellow. All are printed with a 0.4mm nozzle, but the top two are printed with 0.08mm layer height and the bottom two printed with 0.12mm layer height.

CAUTION - currently, there is a problem uploading print profiles containing mixed filaments. Until that is fixed, you can either download the 3mf files from the “Download STL/CAD Files” option or download the print profile attached and add two mixed filaments and assign to each model - as shown in the screenshot below.
