Bill of Materials
Description
Hi everyone! I’m excited to share this project with you.
This design was inspired by a great concept I saw online that caught my eye. I loved the idea so much that I decided to challenge myself to build my own version from the ground up in SolidWorks, tailoring the tolerances and mechanics to my personal preference for daily use.
It was a rewarding process that took 5 rounds of prototyping to achieve the exact "feel" and fit I was looking for. I’m really happy with how it turned out, but I’m always open to feedbacks and new ideas from the community!
Key Features:
- Three-Part Design: The model consists of three separate parts, which means you can easily print it in different colors to customize your look—no AMS required!
- Precision Engineering: Designed for a satisfying "click" and a secure hold.
Recommended Print Settings:
To get the best results (and ensure those locking hooks are nice and strong), here is what I used for my final prototype:
- Wall Loops: 4 to 5 perimeters (This is crucial to make the internal hooks durable and snap-resistant).
- Layer Height: 0.16 mm (Recommended) or 0.12 mm for a premium look.
- Infill: 15% Gyroid.
- Support: Designed to be Support-Free, but feel free to use them if you feel your printer might struggle with some of the overhangs.
- Material: Works great in PLA, but PETG or ASA are highly recommended. These materials offer better flexibility for the locking hooks, ensuring they can bend and snap into place securely without becoming brittle over time.
Assembly Guide: Need a hand with the assembly? Check out the GIF below to see exactly how the parts fit together. It’s quick and easy!
