Description

Ever find yourself needing a downspout adapter after the previous one was embrittled by UV and then you accidentally stepped on it, shattering it into many different pieces, and not wanting to leave the house? Yes! No? Well, anyways, now you have an option to print a replacement at home!

This design prints in three separate parts, and connected by both pins and the designed in side clips. If you are having any issue with the side clips, you can also sand things down and / or use some CA adhesive (like most super glue)

Pins are easily scalable if you are having any tolerance issues with your printer.

Overlapping fillets to promote flow when combining the parts.

Dimensions (when together):

  1. 620mm Length
  2. 50mm Height
  3. 171mm Outer Width at narrow end
  4. 249mm Outer Width at wide end

Best printed in PETG for better UV and thermal protection. If there is a small gap between parts, you can use filler, clear coat, varnish, or spray paint over. I used some Granite Textured Spray on my H series splash blocks to give it more of a concrete look and feel. Suggest using some CA adhesive for the pins for longevity and rigidity.

The profile is set at 8% infill to save on filament, but should be good anywhere from 5-25% if you would like. Be careful with the force of inserting the connecting pins with low infill. Pins are all walls / solid, but can likely be reduced as well.

Looks great! Thanks for sharing the photo. Did you have any challenges with the assembly?

no problem at all, I tapped it together with a rubber mallet and it went together easily.

cool print but these are 5 dollars at homedepot

I get that and one thing I did think of though not everyone with a home depot or lowe's close by. $8-9 bucks here with my current cost of filament, stronger, sturdier, and expect it to last longer. Other ways to design it to use less filament, but more of a pain to print for some printers (vertical with less underside or angled with designed-in supports). Have had to replace several over the years with two houses, this was convenient for me. The only one that has lasted longer is a concrete splash block that still shows signs of erosion from the past 10 years

if k could make a suggestions for a parametric version so the person can make them as long as they need... I'll likely use one of these should the need arise but just thought occurred to me and seems like a neat idea to be able to make a longer m splash bloc

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and suggestion! I have advocated for Makerworld to make a parametric builder for SolidWorks like they have for Fusion360, but nothing yet. Would need to figure out all the variables with the pin size as well as the surface / axial face where it can go decreases over the length. Until that happens, I may consider doing a longer version, would need to keep the decline and width on the outlet end into consideration.

Hello, I am a beginner and this might be a silly question: Is it possible to use something like this as a bicycle ramp? I would need to bridge about 4-5 steps and it would need a way to be attached to the railing at the beginning and end so it doesn't slip. I've already searched here on Makerworld but haven't found anything suitable. Maybe someone has another idea? Thank you very much.

Hallo, Do you have an example of what you are after along with the angle and distance? Yeah, I don't think this will work out how you want to if I am understanding correctly. At any rate, here are two pictures with it on some US standard sized stairs (carpeted):

my stairs are: From the floor to the edge of the top step is 1.65 meters long. Step depth 31 cm and height 18.5 cm. Sorry I have no idea how to calculate angles for this

It fits perfectly and feels very sturdy once assembled.

nice model! however, I think it would be cheaper to buy one then it takes to print it. approximate $13 fliament and 18 hours print time.

Thanks for leaving a comment. Sometimes it is something I'd rather make better than purchase even if a little bit more if there is a home improvement store nearby. And the length of time doesn't matter too much to me, but that is just my personal opinion. Gonna paste what I just replied to another comment: I get that and one thing I did think of though not everyone with a home depot or lowe's close by. $8-9 bucks here with my current cost of filament, stronger, sturdier, and expect it to last longer. Other ways to design it to use less filament, but more of a pain to print for some printers (vertical with less underside or angled with designed-in supports). I feel like it is easier to pass by something than to stop and make negative comments, I guess my mom raised me right. I’m making one. I’ll send pics when it’s done.

Thanks, yeah I get that some people want to share their thoughts on the matter and this provides them a platform to do it. Sometimes valid like this even if unnecessary (in my eyes), and I am happy to put out my point of view as well in response if time allows. I do not usually respond to the troll ones like "waste of plastic", like a functional print being less useful than the thousands of flexis and other things out there. I do plenty of designs that help mitigate plastic used (usually hexagons, at the expense of time) but it is not applicable for this use. Looking forward to the printing and how it turns out and open to any improvement suggestions. I haven't received much feedback to others actually printing it yet. It was tight for my to fit together with the smaller pins gave me more of a hassle during assembly so I was thinking about printing slightly smaller ones for more tolerance but it worked and why I suggested they can be easily scaled in the description.

I’m wasting it currently, excited about it too. I only need one and it’s about the same cost of ordering one and having it shipped. 🤷‍♀️

Printed great in PETG (medium green). It hasn't rained yet (we really need some) to see how well it works, but I have no reason to doubt it will be perfect.
