Pferdeappel Board Game

• Pferdeapfel: This is the standard German term. It translates literally to "horse apple" and is considered a polite or family-friendly way to say horse dung.

   

• Pferdeäppel: This is a dialectal or colloquial variation, particularly common in Central and Northern German dialects where "Apfel" becomes "Appel".

   

• Pferdeäppel is also the name of a tactical two-player board game where players move horse tokens similarly to knights in chess, leaving "droppings" behind to block their opponent.

This is a game that I found online, that can be played with paper and pen. I wanted to see if I could create a board game out of it to play with my family.  This is my first print that I created on my own. Let me know what you think and Happy Gaming.

The rules for the game:

Pferdeäppel is a 2-player tactical board game where players control horses that move like chess knights, aiming to trap the opponent or make their piece unmovable. The key mechanic is that moved pieces mark their previous spot, which becomes unusable, restricting movement until one player is stuck or captured. 

Key Rules for Pferdeäppel:

• Objective: Capture the opponent's horse or trap them so they cannot make a legal move.
• Movement: Horses move exclusively in an "L-shape" (two spaces in one cardinal direction, then one space perpendicularly), identical to a knight in chess.
• Marking the Board: Every time a horse moves, the spot it just vacated is marked.
• Restricted Areas: Marked spots are considered "pferdeäppel" (horse droppings) and can no longer be moved into or passed through.
• Game End: The game ends when a player cannot make a legal move or is captured, resulting in a loss for that player.
