Description

Description

Kawa (川, "river") is the second piece in the Wabi-Sabi planter collection. A fuller, more generous body than the original — carved with vertical grooves of varying depth, like a stone slowly shaped by moving water. The rim carries a subtle wave, and the silhouette leans gently to one side.

Where the first piece was quiet and still, Kawa is quiet and moving. The grooves catch light differently from every angle, and they hide print layer lines naturally — giving the piece a strong sense of material, even in plain PLA.

Designed to blend into quiet, intentional spaces: a bright kitchen corner, a minimalist desk, a hallway shelf. It lets the plant be the star, while still holding its own as an object.

Size: ~125 mm diameter × 125 mm height Style: Minimalist Japanese / Wabi-Sabi Wall thickness: 7 mm (solid, stable, concrete-inspired feel) Drainage hole: Ø 12 mm in the base (optional)

What fits inside

Best suited for plants in a Ø 11–12 cm nursery pot. Works beautifully with:

  • Medium pothos or philodendron
  • Small fern or peperomia
  • Herbs (basil, thyme, mint)
  • Young monstera, ZZ plant, or snake plant

Color tip: Matte grey, bone white, or terracotta PLA gives the strongest concrete/stone look. Avoid glossy filaments — they fight the aesthetic. Kawa in particular benefits from matte finishes that let the grooves cast soft shadows.

About the collection

Wabi-Sabi (侘寂) is the Japanese aesthetic of finding beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity. This collection translates that philosophy into minimalist planters, each one exploring a different face of the same idea.

The series so far:

  • 一 Wabi-Sabi — the original, a quietly waisted cylinder
  • 川 Kawa — the river-worn one (this piece)
  • 月 Tsuki — the faceted moon-stone (coming soon)
  • 石 Ishi — three stones fused into one (coming soon)

All four share the same wall thickness, drainage geometry, and quiet grey language. Print them together as a set, or one at a time.

Follow for updates as the series completes.
