Description

I've messed around a few times with 18650 battery packs.

This time i have spent some time designing this pack so i can use it in a current project i'm working on.

  1. Connect 2 18650's in series side by side.
    I used nickel strip. As i do not have a spot wielder, i had to solder them. Then solder a positive and negative wire to the battery + and -.  If you do this i STRONGLY recommend you do your research before starting.
    You can damage the battery if you get it too hot. 

  2. Feed the JST connecter through the end cap.

  3. Solder wires to the pogo pins and heat shrink to cover. Feed them through the main body checking polarity on the outside of the case.

  4. lay the wires inside

    then use a glue gun to fix the separator plate in place.

     

  5. These connect to the P+ and P- on the BMS.

     
  6. The pogo pins connect to B+ and B- on the BMS with the cable from the Battery as well. It's a little fiddly getting both cables soldered.
  7. I covered the BMS with heat shrink for protection and to add strain relief.

  8. Assemble as you progress thorough the build. I just super glued the parts together.
  9. I started with the charging point (JST connector), added the batteries, glued on the pogo pin end, then concentrated on the solder to the BMS.
  10. Pogo pins and batter + & - to B+ & B- on the BMS
  11. JST connector the P+ & P- on the BMS.
  12. Last but not least a cable from the connection (nickel plate) between the batteries for balanced charging. This goes to the BM connection on the BMS.
  13. Complete gluing and add a 10mm X 2mm magnet to the power end. This will make it easier if you are designing for the pack to be used and held in place.

Once fully built it should look like this.
