Parametric frame to stand or hang.
The model generates a frame with an exact inner opening, so the image fits edge-to-edge without a mat or overlap. The visible area matches the print dimensions, keeping the full image intact!
Key features:
- Parametric sizing (width, height, thickness)
- No mat / no passepartout
- Edge-to-edge fit (no cropping)
- Configurable frame border thickness, or leave it default for a slim, minimalistic look.
- No supports needed!
The frame is intended for flat prints (PLA, Chroma Canvas, HueForge, lithophane panels).
Typical workflow:
- Measure your print (width, height, thickness)
- Click “Customize” below the print profile.
- Set at least the width and height parameters in the model. Do not add any extra tolerance unless you know you need it!
- Export and print with recommended settings, specially enable Topmost ironing for the frame
- Insert the print into the frame.
Print 1 or 2 base supports (select the plate in the default print profile) to have it standing or hang it on the wall!
- you can use a single support in the middle or two on each corner!
Recommended settings if doing it manually:
- Quality → enable Ironing: topmost surface (for the frame)
- 0.2mm, Gyroid sparse infill pattern, 15% sparse infill

The generator automatically adds a tolerance of 0.250mm to the width and height, this enables the image to slide in easily and stay in place without need for glue for most calibrated printers. Please keep in mind that the clearance needed depends on a variety of personal factors, including the thickness of the picture.
I designed it to fit perfectly if the image is also accurate, but for very thin prints it might be slightly loose.
- If it is slightly loose, add a tiny piece of double sided tape to each side of the inner frame
- Alternatively, add a tiny drop of glue (I have not yet needed to do this, but it's an option)
- Works best with dimensionally accurate prints
This trade-off was for me ok given that the visible area matches the image dimensions, keeping the full image intact!, so it is not partially covered at the edges like in other designs. This was the main reason why I made it.

If you want some custom sizes added to the default print profile, let me know in a comment!
I plan to maybe extend the model in the future to add hangers that can be attached to the frame holes.
