Description

Watch the full design and printing process here:

When I encountered the Pokémon promo card with Charmander pressing its face against the window, I knew I had to bring it to life as a 3D model. I initially generated the model using MakerLab's image-to-3D tool and then refined and sculpted the final version in MeshMixer.

Files Included These files are free to download and remix. If you use them in a project or video, please just tag or reference my channel!

  • CharmanderFullSize: Full-scale model (as featured in the main video).
  • CharmanderMini0.25: A 25% scaled-down version.
  • CharmanderTail105Scale: The tail flame, scaled slightly to 105% for a better fit with the full-size model.
  • LEDTube: Can be used as a modifier or negative volume in your slicer to hollow out a channel for an LED in the tail.

Recommended Print Settings Feel free to experiment, but these settings I used:

  • Support: On, to support the overhangs that are still in the model.
  • Infill: Lightning or adaptive cubic as a fast and low material infill.
  • Additional wall loop: To add strength and hide infill artifacts.
  • Brim: Yes, as it is a big print and better safe than sorry in my opinion.
  • !IMPORTANT: Empty your poop bucket before printing! This model requires a high number of filament swaps since it was designed for a toolchanger.

Feedback & Makes This model is an evolving project, and there are still many opportunities to improve the design and expand its use cases. If you run into any issues during slicing or printing, please reach out. I would absolutely love to see your finished builds, so please upload your makes and share your feedback!
