Description
3D Printed Butter Churner Model - (Important - read the description)
Make fresh, delicious butter right at home with this simple and elegant 3D-printable butter churner. Our design is optimized for easy printing and satisfying performance, turning a standard wide-mouth mason jar into a miniature factory. Add heavy cream, turn the hand crank, and watch as the cream transforms into butter.
This model features a clean aesthetic with white and black parts, making it a functional art piece. The frame and handle can be printed in standard PLA for ease, but for a truly robust and durable experience, the internal gear mechanism requires careful attention.
Gears and Internal Mechanism: To ensure a long-lasting, reliable simple geared system, the gears should be printed in a harder material like PETG, ABS, ASA, PA (Nylon), or PC (Polycarbonate). PLA will fail quickly under load. This choice of material will provide the necessary strength and wear resistance to prevent the teeth from stripping.
IMPORTANT USE AND CAPACITY NOTES:
- Capacity Warning: When preparing to churn, do not fill the jar more than 2/3 of its capacity (e.g., a standard jar should have substantial headspace). Cream expands and needs room to aerate; overfilling will prevent efficient churning and could stress the mechanism.
- Gear Fixation Note: After you have test-fit the components and adjusted the gears so they mesh smoothly, use a drop of super glue (cyanoacrylate) to permanently fix the gears in place on their shafts. This prevents them from slipping under torque.
Lid Measurement Guide for Your Jar: This model features a customizable, parameter-driven lid (see the technical guide image). To ensure a perfect fit with your specific wide-mouth mason jar, you must take precise measurements of your jar's neck carefully using calipers before printing. Count the threads per unit distance to determine your exact pitch.
Refer to our dimensional diagram, which uses these example parameters for measuring:
- Major Diameter: (wide threads) 111mm
- Minor Diameter: (root crest) 108mm
- Lid Height: (side dimension) 16mm
- Thread Pitch: (distance between threads) 3mm
If you don't have a jar, and you want to completely 3d print the model, you can use this customizable model https://makerworld.com/en/models/476420-parametric-stackable-container-with-screw-lid#profileId-387385
