Customized, Parametric, and Ready-to-Print Cake Topper
No more generic toppers. This project was made for those who want a piece with the right name and age, in the right style, without depending on anyone to model it.
Open the file, fill in the fields directly on the Bambu Lab platform, export, and print. It's that simple.
What makes this piece special
Unlike generic toppers, this project was designed to be easy to customize and perfect for gifting. Each piece elegantly displays the person's name and age, with a precise fit between parts for a clean and professional assembly.
What can be configured
- Birthday person's data Full name and age from 1 to 99. Ages 1 to 9 can be displayed with a leading zero (07, 08…) or as a single digit, according to your preference.
- Fonts and style Two font styles for the name — Pacifico and Lobster — handwritten and festive that give an elegant touch to the piece. Two styles for the numbers — Liberation Serif, classic and full-bodied, and Impact, modern and bold. Different combinations significantly change the final look, it's worth experimenting.
- Name size and spacing The name has automatic size calculation to fit well with the numbers, but you can increase or decrease it with a slider from 0.5 to 2.5. Letter spacing is also adjustable for names with wider or narrower characters.
- Number thickness Fine control over the digit stroke, from thin to very full-bodied, without needing to change the font.
- Visual finish Two extra finishing parameters: rounding of the side edges of the numbers (Edge Round, from 0 to 3mm) and a recessed step on the front face (Edge Step Depth, from 0 to 5mm) that creates an embossed frame effect. Both can be disabled by setting the value to zero.
- Name position and angle The name appears diagonally over the numbers with a configurable angle. Vertical, horizontal position and fine displacement in mm, all adjustable to fit perfectly any combination of name and age.
- Dimensions Numbers height, total thickness, name fitting depth into numbers, space between digits, print tolerance. The piece adapts to your bed size and your finishing preferences.
- Colors Selector with 10 predefined colors for the numbers and for the name, identified in Portuguese and English: Rosa Claro / Light Pink, Azul Claro / Light Blue, Dourado / Gold, Prata / Silver, Branco / White, Preto / Black, Vermelho / Red, Azul / Blue, Verde Claro / Light Green and Lilás / Lilac.
- Rendering quality Curve Quality parameter to control curve quality. Use 16 or 32 for quick preview in OpenSCAD and 64 for the final STL export.
- Spike for cake attachment The project includes an option for a rectangular spike to attach the topper directly to the cake. You can configure the length, width, thickness, and position, allowing it to extend below the left digit, right digit, or both simultaneously.
>> The spike's alignment in thickness is also configurable. When the option is Front, the spike is aligned with the front face of the piece, ideal for those who print face down on the bed. When it's Back, it's aligned with the rear face, indicated for printing in conventional orientation. Choose according to the orientation you will use in the slicer.
>> It is worth noting that numbers like 4 and 7 have openings at the bottom of the font that can make the spike appear misaligned or visually loose. In these cases, try adjusting the position to Left or Right until you find the cleanest result.
How to print
The file generates the two parts separately — numbers and name. Export each with the correct option in the panel and import both into your slicer.
No AMS or multi-filament printer is needed. With two simple prints in different filaments, you already have the bicolor result. Those with multi-material use it the same way, just combine them in the slicer and assign the colors.
Colors can also be adjusted directly in the slicer, for both .3MF and .STL files, without needing to go back to the file settings.
For a better finish on the name part, place the front face down on the bed. The visible part will be mark-free and have a clean surface.
