Description

I made a body as close as I could to strandberg 6 string guitar, and adapted it for a floyd rose bridge. So I named it Floydberg.

1d 9h of print time

For a complete build, you will need:

  • ~1.250 kg of filament (I used PLA+, also recommend PETG)
  • 8x 3mm heat set inserts
  • 8x m3 x 16mm bolts
  • 2x humbuckers
  • 2x potentiometers (I recommend just using 2x b500k, a500k are unpredictable)
  • 2x knobs for said potentiometers (OR print your own)
  • 3-way switch (or 5-way with 24 pins, depending on your electronics goals)
  • 6.5 output jack
  • Bridge: Wilkinson WODL1 is recommended for accessability, build quality and exellent tremolo arm.
  • Neck: I used JSZ used neck from Aliexpress for reverse truss rod neck. I also added a version of body without the cutout for reverse truss rod if needed.

Bridge posts installed by heating them with blow torch and press fitting inside.

Images show previous revision. Since it I made a lot of improvements. + I printed it (on A1!) with gyroid infill of 70% core and wings at 50%, but I guess this is very overkill. Also cubic speeds the print time almost twice compared to gyroid while being as strong. 50% for Core and lower values for Wings should be enough.

History of updates:

  • 2026 July 6th - now I target nut to posts distance of 640.5 mm. WODL1 saddles are average +-1 cm away, so theoretically allowing intonation setup in the middle of the saddles. Previous length was 5 mm overshoot accidently. Also, filletted holes for bridge and pickups and changed bridge cutout geometry to resemble Ibanez Jem7V. The neck pocket moved back for forward truss rodded necks to compensate for longer heel. Neck pickup is backed for forward truss rod version so the wall between the neck cutout and neck pickup is strong.

In this version I was able to set intonation and tuning perfectly for my reverse truss-rod neck, even though it turned out to be 2mm+ longer that i expected, yet i still have ~1 mm of free room on 1st string. I updated the core for backwards truss rodded necks accordingly, so the setup now has a least around 3.5mm of intonation clearance for fresh strings, confirming that it works correctly.

  • 2026 July 4th - WAIT it should be 653 not 659, I'll make a fix. Also I found a better way to calculate it.
  • 2026 June 15th - 0.911 update: Adjusted bridge and neck position for fully fixed intonation, allowing for a 5mm (half a full 1 cm of adjustability in floyd rose saddles) of clearance for sadle movement. Distance calculated as 5mm from the furthest position of 6th string contact position +659 mm until nut. Posts are now standart 74 mm apart as WODL1 can work with it too.
  • 2026 May 9th - 0.89 update: Bridge posts backed for 7 mm for fixing and improving intonation setup (bridge humbucker is moved too)
  • 2026 March 21st – 0.88: Release
