Description

I designed this to look like the UFO in the iconic “I Want to Believe” poster, as seen on the late 1990s TV show, The X-Files, in Fox Mulder's office.

I made the part tolerances very tight so they will fit together without needing much glue.  The model in the photos did not require glue.

I ran out of silver silk filament, so I painted the main saucer parts in the photos.  I think silver silk filament might look better, but I'm pretty happy with how the final assembly came out.

I provided two versions of the lower saucer section to allow for a tilted saucer look like the poster (see the physical model photos) or a flat, level saucer look (see the model screenshot).

If you have questions, feel free to reach out.  Happy printing!

This printed smoothly and perfectly the first time, though I'll admit I struggled with assembly just a bit - those blue bits are fiddly! The tolerances are exactly as you said - very tight - so everything sticks together without glue. Perfect!

Thanks for the rating, the boost and the feedback. I debated on the tolerances and erred on the side of tight and no glue because little fiddly parts and glue usually spells disaster (for me at least). Thanks for sharing the photo, loots like it printed nicely.
