Description
LumaRipple Light
LumaRipple is a lamp with a modern and sculptural design, characterized by undulating surfaces that diffuse light softly and uniformly, creating an elegant and relaxing visual effect. The PETG Translucent body enhances every color of the RGBW light, transforming the environment with ever-changing atmospheres.
The model is designed to use the 16-color RGBW light kit (2pcs) - KC007, compatible with both remote control and direct pressure control. In this configuration, the lamp utilizes pressure control: by pressing the top cover, you can turn the light on/off, change colors, and by holding it down, adjust the light intensity (dimmer).
The project consists of 3 printed parts:
- Base: perfectly houses the light module. The housing is designed to be precise: the light is inserted by pressure. To remove it, simply push with your fingers through the hole in the bottom.
The base was made from PETG Basic, but can also be easily printed in PLA, freely choosing the color according to your taste or decor. - Main body: made of PETG Translucent, with an undulating vertical texture that diffuses light uniformly and creates a refined visual effect.
- Cover: also in PETG Translucent, with a negative engraving of the text
“LIGHT ME ON LIGHT ME OFF”, which elegantly illuminates when the lamp is on.
Assembly:
Assembly is extremely simple and intuitive:
- Insert the light module into the base (by pressure). To remove the light, use the hole on the bottom of the base and push with your fingers.
- Place the main body over the light: the internal molded seat ensures correct alignment and stability.
- Place the cover on top.
No complex interlocking parts or additional components are needed.
Operation:
- Short press on the cover → on/off or color change
- Long press → light intensity adjustment
Everything happens naturally and intuitively, making interaction with the lamp simple and pleasant.
Printing:
- Recommended materials:
- PETG Translucent (body and cover)
- PETG Basic or PLA (base)
- Number of plates: 3
- Supports: NOT required
- Difficulty: low (long but very simple print)
Colors: For this project, I chose two shades of gray, to achieve a modern, clean, and elegant look that enhances light diffusion. Of course, you can fully customize the aesthetic using the colors you prefer. The advice is to first choose the color of the translucent material (which will directly influence the lighting effect) and then match a shade for the standard material of the base that integrates harmoniously.
This choice will allow you to achieve very interesting combinations, both contrasting and tone-on-tone, adapting the lamp to your style or the environment in which it will be used.
The design is optimized to ensure a clean and hassle-free print, even for less experienced users.
Why “LumaRipple”?
I chose the name LumaRipple by combining two key concepts of the project:
- “Luma” evokes light, brightness, and the atmosphere generated by the lamp.
- “Ripple” (wave/undulation) perfectly describes the body's geometry, characterized by undulating lines that resemble fluid waves and contribute to the soft diffusion of light.
The name thus represents the very essence of the design: light propagating through waves, both visually and as an experience in the environment.
LumaRipple combines aesthetics, simplicity, and functionality in a single object, perfect as ambient lighting, a piece of furniture, or an original gift idea.
