Gothic Cathedral Staircase Book Nook

✨ Overview 

This model represents a fragment of a Gothic staircase inspired by cathedral architecture. The design focuses on capturing proportions, rhythm, and the monumental feel of the space, while adapting the geometry for FDM 3D printing. The model is designed as a book nook – a decorative diorama intended to be placed between books.

🕯️ Inspiration

The project was inspired by a staircase in Rouen Cathedral, known as the Booksellers’ Stairs. Dating back to the 15th century, the staircase leads to the cathedral library located on the second floor of a neighboring building. It was designed to provide clergy with direct access to the collection of books from within the cathedral. In this project, I aimed to preserve the characteristic architectural layout and proportions of the space, while simplifying details to make them suitable for FDM 3D printing.

💡 Lighting (Optional)

The model includes an optional lighting feature using a small RGB LED module powered by coin cell batteries, controlled via a remote. Lighting enhances the depth of the scene, emphasizes the structure, and brings out fine details through light and shadow contrast. Prepared two separate print profiles: Without LED and With LED. They differ in the roof version and include an additional LED holder in the LED variant.

⚠️ Only one roof version should be printed, depending on whether you plan to use lighting. 

For the LED version, an additional LED Holder part must be printed to secure the module in place. The LED slot is designed to accommodate a module with maximum dimensions D = 27.5 mm x H = 13.5 mm.

A complete documentation package is included, containing the filament color list, model dimensions, parts list, and assembly instructions.
