Over 100 years ago, Dr Maria Montessori designed beautiful hands-on materials to help children explore concepts through movement, touch, and observation.
I’m working from that same philosophy — but adapting the materials for a modern world where many homes and classrooms now have access to affordable 3D printers.
As a homeschooling parent, I originally designed this geometric cabinet for our own learning space because authentic Montessori materials can be incredibly expensive and hard to source. I wanted something that stayed aligned with Montessori principles while also being practical for real homes and classrooms.
So this set is designed to be:

What Is the Montessori Geometric Cabinet?
The geometric cabinet is one of the classic Montessori sensorial materials.
It helps children develop:
- Shape recognition
- Visual discrimination
- Fine motor control
- Early geometry concepts
- Vocabulary development
Authentic Montessori materials isolate one concept at a time. Rather than overwhelming children with busy activities, the geometric cabinet intentionally focuses on helping them deeply explore shape and form through hands-on interaction.

Full Size Version
Designed closely to traditional Montessori proportions aligned with the metric system and ideal for larger shelves or classroom environments.
Compact A4 Version
A reduced-size version I created for our own homeschool (inspired by Jovis from Hometessori) because the original cabinet was too hard to store.
This version fits neatly inside standard A4 drawer systems and small learning spaces while still preserving the learning experience.
New to 3D Printing?
You really don’t need to be an expert to use these files.
Many schools, libraries, STEM spaces, and even some community centres now have 3D printers available. Home printers are also becoming much more affordable and beginner-friendly.

I’m just a mum designing Montessori materials for our own homeschool and sharing them in case they help someone else too.
I spend a lot of time researching Dr Montessori’s original writings and adapting those ideas into forms that are practical and accessible through modern home manufacturing like 3D printing.
This isn’t about reinventing Montessori materials — it’s about helping more families and educators access them.
