Description

Life size pug (Canis familiaris) cranium and mandible that I segmented from a computed tomography scan (CT source and Publication). For this model I used scan id: HRCT 087_C2_PUG.

I separated the mandible from the cranium and digitally removed the adhesive or padding that was connecting them. Each model is solid and does not contain internal structures.

Printing:

  • 0.16 mm layers
  • 3 walls, 8% gyroid infill
  • tree supports at 30 degrees
    • initial layer expansion: 5 mm
    • top z distance: 0.2 mm
    • top interface layers: 2
    • tip diameter: 2 mm

I usually print crania with the foramen magnum on the plate, but for this, I angled the cranium so that the top layers occur around the bossing of the frontal rather than directly on the nasal sutures. I used Sunlu matte PLA in bone white for my pics. Matte PLA makes support removal much easier. Printed on the Bambu a1 mini.
