Like what you see and want to help me make more inserts like this one?  I'd be very grateful if you boost me.

🌴 Tales of the Arabian Nights board game insert / organizer

This is an insert / organizer for the award-winning storytelling board game “Tales of the Arabian Nights”  – specifically it fill fit the 40th anniversary edition box released in 2026. This insert will likely not work for the older edition.

This is great game to play with your partner / friend who love the choose-your-adventure kind of games. It encourages a lot of improv and it features a unique  system of reaction matrices for replayability.

The components and card quality of the 40th edition are awesome. The tokens used for the skills you can acquire during the game really demanded some organization as I grew quickly tired of sorting them at the start of the game. So why not creating a fully fledged organizer then? And there it is.

Limited card sleeving support:

The inside art of the box is charming and I really didn't want to throw the cardbord insert it came with. For this reason, it is not possible to sleeve all the cards.

With this insert you will be able to sleeve the following sets of cards:

  • Encounters
  • City cards
  • Quests

Basically you will be able to sleeve all cards that require shuffling (I sleeved mine with Gamegenic matte sleeves which are thick). I did not sleeve statuses and the solo game cards. I really don't play this game solo and the standard statuses don't need shuffling (on the contrary you should keep them sorted). If you use thin sleeves you may be able to sleeve more cards however keep in mind that the middle deck compartment of the two card inserts will not support sleeved cards of any type because of space constraints to retain the cardboard insert around it.

🏗️ Print & assembly instructions

No supports required! I printed this with a Bambu H2S but you should be able to print the insert with smaller format printers without issue. In fact if you own a multicolor printer you could group together some plates.

You will need to glue the color-coded player inner part of the box to the lattice box – just use  some super glue and you'll be good.

You will be able to arrange everything as shown in the gallery photos with no lid lift.

I had printed out simple card boxes to fit the insert prior to this model becoming available, so just needed to print the holder for the skill tokens from this print. It fit the hole I had left perfectly! The one small suggestion would be to tweak the bottom piece so that the bottom skill token of the trio can be lifted out more easily--I found it hard to flick up with my finger nail, but that's a relatively small nit.

oh wow thank you! didn’t think of that: I mostly play 2p so the third token at the bottom being a little tighter didn’t bother me — but yeah having a hole underneath to push the tokens out is a great idea and I’m going to implement that in a revision

Replying to @unfulvio :
sorry it took longer to post an update, but I have replaced the print profile with the new tray that includes the holes to push the tokens out, it's a small improvement, but very neat, thank you again for the suggestion

I find that the middle section doesnt fit the cards. Has anyone else had that problem?

Hey thanks for printing the insert and sorry to hear that the middle section is too tight for your cards. There are two possibilities: 1) your cards are slightly bigger (when they are machine cut at the factory they could have some tolerance that is not accounted for here); 2) the printer, slicer settings or filament used made the walls slightly thicker just enough to make the cards a hard fit. We can work on the second possibility: have you changed any settings in the profile supplied here? which printer and filament are you using? how much space do you need to make the cards fit?
