Bring the power of the horizon to your workspace!
The Aeolus Kinetic Turbine is more than just a model, it’s a tribute to modern engineering and our shared passion for a sustainable future.
Designed to mirror the elegant giants that define the renewable energy landscape, this miniature captures the beauty of wind power in a clean, minimalist form.
Key Features:
- True Wind Following: The turbine head features a full 360° yaw rotation, allowing it to align itself with the wind direction, just like its industrial-scale counterparts.
- Fluid Motion: The aerodynamically shaped blades are designed to catch even light breezes, creating a hypnotic and relaxing kinetic effect.
- Eco-Conscious Aesthetic: Whether on a desk, a balcony, or in a garden, this piece serves as a beautiful reminder of our commitment to green energy.
- User-Friendly Assembly: Optimized for 3D printing with a focus on simplicity and structural integrity.
Assembly Instructions:
This model is designed for a quick and rewarding building experience:
- Main Components: Most parts feature a precise mechanical fit.
- Fastening: A small drop of superglue is only required to secure the three blades into the hub and to fix the shaft cap in place.
- Setup: Once assembled, place it in a breezy spot and watch it come to life!
Outdoor Material Recommendations
If you plan to place this turbine in your garden or on a balcony:
- I highly recommend printing in PETG or ASA.
- These materials offer superior UV resistance and can withstand the heat and weather conditions much better than standard PLA, ensuring your turbine keeps spinning for a long time.
⚡ Aeolus Wind Turbine: USB-C Powered Version
This version allows you to power your turbine via any standard USB-C cable or power bank, eliminating the need for batteries. It features adjustable speed control thanks to the integrated PWM regulator.
🛠️ Required Components
To build this version, you will need the following parts:
- Motor: Bambu Lab TT Geared Motor (or equivalent 1:48 ratio TT motor).
- Speed Controller: Mini 5V-12V PWM DC Motor Speed Controller.
- Power Port: USB-C Female Round Socket Panel Mount.
- Power Source: Any 5V USB-C cable/adapter.
🔧 Wiring Guide
The assembly is straightforward and requires minimal soldering:
- USB-C Input: Connect the Positive (+) and Negative (-) wires from the USB-C socket to the Power Inputterminals on the PWM Regulator.
- Motor Output: Connect the two wires from the TT Geared Motor to the Motor Output terminals on the PWM Regulator.
- Adjustment: Use the potentiometer knob on the PWM regulator to turn the turbine on/off and control the rotation speed.
- Note: Ensure your polarities match to avoid damaging the regulator. If the turbine spins backward, simply swap the two motor wires on the regulator output.
Why this setup?
- USB-C Universal Compatibility: Easy to power from a PC, wall charger, or power bank.
- Precise Control: The PWM regulator allows a smooth or a more dynamic rotation without overheating the motor.
- Clean Look: The round USB-C socket provides a professional, "factory-made" finish to the printed base.
