DIY WALL·E Model – Hybrid Project Laser-Cut & 3D
Print Profile(1)

Description
Welcome to my little WALL·E project! This little guy is a mix of laser-cut plywood for the body and 3D-printed details for the tracks, arms, and head. A great project for anyone who enjoys crafting and combining different materials.
Design Note: As I'm not a professional in creating laser files, please forgive me if some lines aren't 100% perfect. However, the model is wonderful to assemble, and the "self-made look" perfectly suits WALL·E's character!
Required Material
- Wood: Plywood for the laser-cut body (approx. 3-4mm, depending on scaling).
- Adhesive: Wood glue for the body, superglue for the 3D-printed parts.
- Hardware: Small hinges from the hardware store for the front flap.
- Screws: Small wood screws for attaching the arms and rollers.
- Tools: Drill (for mounting holes).
Step-by-Step Assembly Instructions
1. The Body (Laser Parts)
First, the wooden parts are laser-cut and the inscriptions are engraved. Glue the side panels of the body with conventional wood glue. Let everything dry thoroughly before proceeding.
2. Preparation & Drilling
Since the model is modular, the holes for the attachments must now be drilled:
- Holes on the left and right for the tracks/roller units.
- Holes for the arms on the sides.
- A hole on the top for the neck.
3. Assembly of Tracks and Arms
- First, glue the spacers into the printed rollers with superglue.
- Screw the assembled roller units onto the left and right of the wooden casing.
- Assemble the arms and screw them into their designated positions.
4. Head & Front Flap
- Finally, the head is placed onto the neck and assembled.
- The front door (trash flap) is attached with the small hardware store hinges, allowing it to open like in the movie.
Printing & Laser Tips
- 3D Printing: I recommend PLA or PETG. Support is partially necessary for the eyes and arms.
- Laser: Pay attention to a clean engraving for the WALL·E logo on the front.
3D Print
I have provided the STL file for printing if someone doesn't want to or can't laser the body.
I look forward to your feedback and your "Makes"! Feel free to show me your versions in the comments.
