Description

Before you start printing, a few warnings:

  • permanent modification of the honcho cage is required
  • The drawers, tailgate, and lights are purely cosmetic

This is a service body for the SCX6 Trail Honcho that re-uses some of the existing rear half cage for mounting/support. The rear body hinge still works, though the body can't flip all the way open since the back corners of the service body hit the rear tires. The pictures show the front edge of the wheel opening very close to the tire, but I made the wheel opening 5mm longer in the final file to make the gap equal on the front and back.

One of the model pictures shows all of the cage pieces that need to be cut off. In addition to cutting off pieces, the bottoms of two sections need to be sanded down in order to clear the fender wells. Approximately half of the material for these two sections need to be removed, but a bit of test fitting is required.

The bed sides are split in half in order to fit on a 256mmx256mm build plate. The two halves press-fit together, but a little glue in the joint wouldn't hurt, just be sure they are tightly pressed together. If you have a bigger machine, you can combine the two halves into one part before printing.

The lights and fuel cap are also glued into place with a dab of super glue. No AMS is required since the build plates in the print profile are split up by color. The front bulkhead just wedges into place (before putting the headache rack on).

The two bed support brackets are from Gillex88 on thingiverse, which I also used for my SCX6 Honcho flatbed design.

Update 5.6.26:

  • I created a v1.1 that adds a license plate from to the left bed side; it is sized for a 25mm x 50mm plate from RC Plate Shop
  • Assembly instructions are now added
  • I made an optional ladder rack, which can be found here. If you use the ladder rack, you do not need to print the headache rack or bed side top pieces from this model.
