Ultimate Modular Blowgun for NERF Darts
I finally finished my ultimate modular blowgun, designed specifically for NERF-style foam darts and built around one main idea: maximum modularity with clean performance.
This design is made as a fully modular system with threaded parts, so each section can be printed separately and screwed together into your preferred setup. That means easier printing, easier customization, and a lot more flexibility than a single fixed design.

What makes it special?
This is not just one blowgun. It is a modular platform.
You can mix and match different parts to build the version you want:
- Main blow sections for different styles
- Handle attachment for better grip and control
- Aiming sight as an optional add-on
- Ammo holder so extra darts are always on the build
- Expansion parts that let you customize the look and feel
The screw-together design makes assembly simple while also giving the model a solid and satisfying structure. Since the parts are separated, it is also much easier to print, transport, upgrade, and replace individual pieces.
Print setup
To make printing easier, I prepared 3 separate print plates:
- Plate 1: Starter kit with the core parts needed for the main build
- Plate 2: Expansion pack with the accessories and add-ons
- Plate 3: Foregrip prepared separately and sliced with custom settings for extra strength
This makes it easy to print only the parts you want, while also making sure the foregrip is optimized for better durability during use.
Performance focus
The goal with this design was not only to make it modular, but also to make it feel smooth, practical, and effective to use with foam darts.
The long tube layout gives it a clean, streamlined look, while the modular sections let you choose a setup that fits your preference. Whether you want a more compact build or a longer configuration, the system is designed to stay versatile without losing its overall feel.
The added handle improves comfort and stability, while the onboard dart holder keeps reloads quick and convenient. Together, those details make the whole design feel more complete and functional than a basic single-piece build.
Why I designed it this way
A lot of builds are locked into one format. I wanted something that felt more like a customizable kit:
- Print in separate parts
- Assemble without a huge one-piece print
- Swap sections depending on what setup you want
- Add attachments when you want more function
- Keep the whole project fun, expandable, and easy to improve
Included / available parts
- Modular barrel sections
- 2 Mouthpiece sections
- Handle
- Ammo holder
- Aiming sight
- Extra add-on parts in the expansion pack
- Separate foregrip print plate with reinforced slicing setup
Best features
- Fully modular

This project was all about combining clean design, modular construction, and reliable foam-dart functionality into one build. If you like 3D printed designs that are customizable, practical, and fun to assemble, this one should be right up your alley.
Let me know which configuration you like best, and feel free to share your own remixes or expansion ideas.
