Hyena Fursuit Headbase - Toony

Hyenna Toony headbase with eye blanks - model from Kloofsuits!

This model features the headbase and eyes that can be used to make a ‘toony’ styled grumpy canine fursuit head. 

How to print:

• The headbase and eyes are designed to be printed in PLA, but any rigid material should be fine as long as your printer can print it. PETG and ABS may provide a stronger headbase with better heat resistance.
• The provided profile includes painted supports, with snug setting to maximise the scale of the headbase on P-series printers. They should remove from the base cleanly and easily, but please do so with care and small cleanup efforts may be necessary.
• The provided profile has printed successfully for my tests, as evidenced by the photos provided. If you are having issues with the print, please ensure you are following the instructions provided and contact us if you have any questions. Ensure your settings are for the correct materials that you are printing with.
• Clean the print bed before printing, as the thin walls may have issues adhering to a dirty printbed. Isopropyl alcohol is good for this, and do not touch the bed once cleaned. Ensure the sheet is positioned well on the bed. You could try increasing the bed temperature by 5-10 degrees if you are still having issues,
• You are welcome to download the individual files and chop or resize as necessary for your printing needs. You may also find you need to add a brim if you are having issues with bed adhesion.

How to use:

• Padding will be required to fit the headbase to the wearer - this is easiest done with upholstery foam and a glue gun.
• Straps will also be required to hold the mask on the head, though you may find creating a ‘bucket base’ out foam and gluing the mask to this is easier, but it will increase the temperature whilst wearing the head considerably.
• A chin stop is recommended to stop the bottom of the base pressing into the wearer’s neck. This prevents the mask from slipping backwards, and can be made out of any number of materials. A file may be provided in the future.
• Lining is not required! The plastic can easily be wiped clean and adding extra fabric will add more weight and insulation.
• You will need an eye mesh - we offer a printed version here on maker world that you can either print in place with coloured mesh if you have an AMS, or you can print the plain mesh and then paint it. You could also purchase printed eye mesh on places like etsy in your country, or buy and paint fabrics such as buckram. This mesh can be glued to the back of the eye blank.
• The base will need ears - we have files for TPU ears available here on maker world. You could also make your own out of upholstery foam or EVA foam.
• Hot glue is sufficient for assembling parts of this base and gluing fur to the base.
• The shape of this base will benefit from cheeks being built up using upholstery foam to make the best shape for your character and species.
• Please take to youtube for various tutorials on completing fursuit heads, particularly using bases - I am not currently in a position to offer individual help, sorry!

How to care for your fursuit:

• Do not leave your headbase or completed parts in any hot place, such as car, conservatory, in a sunny windowsill etc as this may result in warping or damage.
• Wipe the head clean with a damp cloth. Do not use any harsh chemicals.
• The head has some impact resistance, but avoid dropping or applying any pressure, prolonged or otherwise.
