Description
The **HMHS Britannic** was a British ocean liner owned by the shipping company White Star Line, the second ship of the company christened with this name. It was the third and final ship of the Olympic class, thus being a sister ship to the famous ocean liners RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic. At the time of the fateful sinking of the Titanic, its construction was still in an early stage
The ship had been built to transport passengers and should have sailed with the acronym RMS, but it was requisitioned in World War I and only operated as a troop transport and hospital ship until its sinking in 1916
