To create your own custom rod click the "Customize" button to enter your specific dimensions and generate a custom STL in seconds.

Material

PLA works great for general use, though PETG is a fantastic alternative if you need increased durability

Background

This project started with a specific problem: I needed 6x356mm metal rods for a Folding Door Wine Box, but I wanted a fully 3D-printed solution instead.

Standard vertical or horizontal prints often suffer from two issues: they are either too weak (layer lines) or too long for the print bed. This Parametric Rod & Dowel Generator solves both. By printing the rod at a specific angle, we achieve two major benefits:

  1. Superior Strength: Printing at an angle allows the filament layers to wrap more effectively, providing better structural integrity than a standard vertical print.
  2. Maximum Length: By utilizing the diagonal space of your printer’s build volume (the "cube"), you can print rods significantly longer than your bed dimensions.
