Teaching and Learning Aid for Cam and Follower Mechanism
A hands-on learning approach to Design and Technology (D&T) mechanisms involves active "tinkering," prototyping, and testing to understand how motion is transmitted and controlled in everyday products. This approach shifts from theoretical study to experiential learning. Before building complex projects, students engage in short, focused activities using this set to grasp concept of Motion Conversion, Displacement Diagram, Rise, Dwell, and Fall.
Designed with quick assembly in mind:
- Pegs are used instead of screw. Hollow tube to reduce material and more torsional strength.
- Pegs have more tolerance for smoother rotation (compared to my other Linkage print: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2645092-linkage-education-set-for-mechanism#profileId-2923263 )
- Small arrow at each 90 degree for observation of Displacement Diagram - Rise, Dwell, and Fall as cam rotates
Incorporate crank to slider for easier grip
Note: Initial use may feel that peg fitting is tight. It will be easier after several fits.
