Features:

  • easy to assemble
  • plane-convex design
  • very durable
  • can move freely

The old wheel caps of my Subaru lost all their paint over the years. I didn't want to replace them with standard caps, so I decided to design my own. This design consists of three main parts and is easy to assemble and easy to customise as well.

What is what?

  • Base Plates - clips into the rim and holds the part into place. I added two different versions.
    • One sits VERY tight (52-8) and…
    • …the other is a bit on the loser side (52-2)
  • Connector - connects the base plate to the logo plate
  • Logo Plate - has the Subaru logo on it

Printing instructions:

  • Print the Base Plates (the part that locks into the rim) in PETG for better durability and flexibility
  • Print the Connectors in PETG as well for better stability
  • Print the Logo Plates in PLA and apply the colours you want in Bambu-Studio
ObjectLayer Height
Base Plate0.2mm
Connector0.2mm
Logo Plate0.08mm

Assembly:

  1. Push the connector into the concave plate. Make sure you take the thicker end of the connector and put this onto the logo plate. It should be very tight and require a lot of force. I usually push it against the floor, but any hard surface will do.
  2. Then get the base plate and click it on. This should be relatively easy and can be done by hand without huge effort
