Description

Looks like a banana.
Twist it… and it becomes a full-size katana.

This is the Nanakatana XL, created after many requests for a longer version.
After multiple iterations, both the external form and internal fit have been refined to achieve a satisfying balance between movement, strength, and reliability.

⚙️ Design Highlights

  • Extended XL Blade (75~80cm)
A much longer telescopic blade that feels closer to a real katana.
  • Twist-to-Open Mechanism (V2 Evolution)
The banana stem is rotated to unlock and open the peel cap, continuing the proven mechanism from Nanakatana V2.
  • Flick-to-Deploy Action
Once unlocked, a simple flick allows the blade to slide out smoothly.

  • New Safety Lock System 🔒
    Added based on user feedback.
When fully closed, a locking tab prevents the stem from rotating, avoiding accidental deployment (e.g. when clipped on a belt).
(Also… this is the Banana King’s sword. The lock is there to prevent excessive aura leakage 👀)

  • Included Katana Stand 🗡️
    Also requested by many users.
A dedicated stand is included as a separate print profile, allowing you to optionally print and display the katana.
  • Reinforced Structure
Key components have been strengthened to better handle the longer stroke and repeated use, at the same time most of the infill set to 3-5% to use minimal material for the long sword without scarifies the structure strength.

🖨️ Print Tips

  • 0.2 mm layer height recommended with adaptive layer height enable
  • Can be printed fully in PLA
  • For better durability:
    • Blade segments
    • Peel gear lever (white parts)
      → recommended in PETG

⚠️ Important – Dimensional Accuracy

On some printers (especially A-series / H-series),
Dynamic Flow Calibration may cause parts to print slightly oversized, leading to tight fits.

👉 Suggested test:

  • Print peel cap gear and shaft first
  • If fit is too tight → try disabling Dynamic Flow Calibration

⚠️ Bed Adhesion

Some parts are tall and require strong adhesion:

  • Clean build plate with water + soap
  • Ensure first layer is solid before continuing

🧩 Print Setup

  • Designed to fit within 180mm build plate
    → Compatible with A1 Mini
  • Two-color design:
    • Yellow (outer peel)
    • White (internal structure)
  • Katana stand available in a separate print profile

🔧 Assembly

Assembly required.

  • I saw some comment saying support removal is difficult so I updates the support to look more obvious and easier to remove (20260417)
  • tear the support to side wat for easy removal and not broken the inner piece.
  • Do not force parts too much
  • Ensure proper alignment before pressing in
  • make sure to follow the instruction labeling for orientation

🧪 Tested & Verified

Successfully tested on:

  • Bambu Lab A1
  • Bambu Lab P1S
  • Bambu Lab H2D

Stable and repeatable when printed with proper settings.

please remember to CLEAN THE BUILD PLATE !!!!!!!!

💥 Experience

  • Noticeable “click” feedback at full twist position
  • Smoother deployment compared to previous version
  • Blade profile refined to feel closer to a real katana

💡 Final Notes

This is not just a bigger version —
it’s a response to the community.

More presence.
More control.
More satisfaction.
