This is a remix of the (Un)original Drybox, redesigned as an AMS-style filament drybox that integrates directly with the BMCU. It functions both as a storage solution and a drying system, depending on how you configure it.

The design is built around simplicity, accessibility, and compatibility with common components.

Mechanical Components

The spool system is supported by two 20 mm rods, each with a length of 330 mm. These act as the main axles for the filament rollers.

Each spool runs on a set of rollers using a total of 16 MR105ZZ bearings.
Bearing dimensions:

  • Inner diameter: 5 mm
  • Outer diameter: 10 mm
  • Width: 4 mm

BMCU Integration

To interface with the BMCU, you will need 8 × PC4-M6 pneumatic fittings. In most cases, you already have 4 of these included with the BMCU, so only 4 additional fittings are required.

For filament guidance:

  • Use 4 short PTFE tubes (~5 cm each) as feed tubes into the BMCU
  • Use 4 longer PTFE tubes running from the BMCU to the printer

Fasteners and Assembly

Like the original design, this version uses:

  • M3 threaded inserts
  • Standard M3 nuts and bolts

These are used throughout the structure for secure assembly.

Panels and Materials

All enclosure panels are made from 3 mm acrylic (plexiglass), providing a clean look while allowing visibility of the filament inside.

Top Assembly

The top part is printed in multiple sections. After printing, it is recommended to glue the parts together using superglue to ensure proper rigidity and sealing.
